Kit Design Tutorial for BeginnersHere

A lot of Crest Redesign Competition Weekly (CRCW) stages introduce people to teams they’ve not previously been aware of. Like Audax Rio de Janeiro.

Not a big club by any means, the most noteworthy thing for most observers from afar is surely, aside from the occasional inclusion of dinosaur images on the shirts, the depiction of Rio’s famous Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) statue on the crest, and we’d assume that’s what earnt it the CRCW treatment.

This was a fun one. The Kit of the Week (KOTW) challenge focussing its attention on Hammarby IF Fotbollförening, of Sweden’s Allsvenskan, and delivering some great shirts.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect, for those with no skin in the game, was the use of the three green bands of the crest/flag on white entries. This was fun in the case of ONI’s Craft-branded submission, and fun-and-then-some with kunto’s Nike-Swoosh-carrying creation. Never the twain shall meet? They just did.

A minnow on the world stage followed by an international household name wouldn’t necessarily be a bad way to run the Crest Redesign Competition Weekly (CRCW), and Società Sportiva Lazio slot nicely into the latter category.

With some of the most recognisable footballing iconography on the planet - and impressive on-pitch heritage too - SS Lazio deserve this their time in the DesignFootball.com sun (as opposed to the Roman sun) and the members didn’t let them down.

As we’ve said before, our two main challenges - the Kit of the Week (KOTW) challenge and the Crest Redesign Competition Weekly (CRCW) - bounce between world-renowned, top-table fantasy clients and the more obscure.

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited definitely fall into the latter category. Named after the late son of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, killed, along with his father, during the 15 August 1975 Bangladesh coup d'état, it was decided that the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) side needed a refresh to their crest and so the CRCW was called into action.
