Cities Flag Based Kit Competition (closed)

Some months ago there was a competition which consisted of designed kits based on International flags. This competition is simillar, but now, you have to design kits inspired in the club's cities' flags (like Madrid, Amsterdam, Bruges, Paris...).

North East Futsal Crest design (closed)

We're helping to start up NORTH EAST FUTSAL to run and develop futsal in the North East. There will be Boro, Teesside, York and in the future, Newcastle, Sunderland etc all involved. We want a nice crest to represent the region, which will cover the three COUNTY FAs in the area - Nothumberland, Durham and North Riding.

Cup Final Kit Compromise Competition (closed)

I recently wrote a piece for this site concerning the changing of kits in the event of a clash in cup finals.  The point being that a small modification to one or both first choice kits could avoid a team having to wear unfamiliar colours for an important occasion.

This competition is intended to put that principle into practice.  Take any significant historical final match - featuring no "away" team - where at least one team had to change, take each team's first choice kits for that season and edit them so there would no longer be a "clash".

Ajax Amsterdam away kit design competition (Closed)

So, here we go. The objective of the competition is to design an away kit for the legendary Dutch team, none other than Ajax Amsterdam.

The home kit can't really be "designed", since it's a never changed institution (and one of the most beautiful kits in Europe) so it's the away kit you have to do.

New York City FC Competition (closed)

Major League Soccer announced today the creation of its newest franchise, New York FC. The team don't have any logo or uniform yet, so I thought this would be a good reason for a competition.

Puma Red Star Kit (closed)

Red Star Belgrade (Crvena zvezda Beograd) is the largest club in Serbia, and is one of the biggest clubs in Eastern Europe since the beginning of the next season will wear Puma jerseys. I would like to see who is going to be your closest ideal solution that we see at the beginning of next season.

DesignFootball.com League of Blogs 2013 Kit and Crest Competition (closed)

It's League of Blogs time again over at The Football Attic so, like last year, we need DesignFootball.com football kits (Home and Away), and this time a crest as well, to all be presented in TFA's famed sticker book style*.

For the kits, download the gif or jpeg template from TFA and upload your designs to this site for them to be considered. For crests, upload in a supported format of your choice, using the DF logo as a guide.

2013 Confederations Cup : Japan Kit Competition (closed)

As many people may have noticed, international squads are getting new kits more often than usual. Most recently, Spain, Brasil, and Italy, have released new shirts coinciding with the upcoming tournament they'll be contesting, the 2013 Confederations Cup.

One of the few teams I enjoy watching, Japan, are also competing in the 2013 Confederations Cup this Summer. To the disappointment of a Japanese and J-league shirt collector such as myself, it doesn't look as if Japan will take to the field in some fresh threads.

Nike Template Competition (closed)

Last year, a great competition was run to design a new template for Adidas. It was very interesting to see what people came up with, under the pressure of producing something that would work well for a number of teams and styles. I'd love to see what some of you would think about designing a new template for Nike.

Hated/rival team kit design competition (closed)

Pretty straightforward - design a kit for a team that you hate or one that is a rival of your supported team.  Entrants must give a reason.

Existing Template With New Colourway Competition (closed)

There are at least two fantastic competitions already open - including the Hated/rival team kit design competition and the Atlético Nacional (COL) kit competition - but here's another relatively simple and quick "just for fun"-er.

With the recent releases of the Portugal and Netherlands/Holland Away kits, Nike have shown what can be done when an existing template is recycled in new colours.  They've taken some flak over the decision but I personally think it's a great way of fully utilising a great design.

So I'd like to see a similar approach taken with any club or international kit of the last 25 years.  Pick a design you like and play with the colours to give the chosen team a new mid-season Third (or Fourth, or Fifth...) kit in the same style as one of their existing strips.

The manufacturer will need to be stuck to, and probably the sponsor too, though for designs based on two season kits there may be a couple of options.  Please include the season in the title and a graphical representation of the inspirational kit in the corner of the upload or at least a (short) url pointing us to the original in the description.

As is standard with DF competitions, selected entries will be featured on the DF facebook page and tweeted.  Any designs already uploaded to Football Shirt Culture's Fantasy Kit Designs or the DF galleries are both eligible and welcome so please don't hesitate to include them.

The competition will close at 23:59 on Saturday 16th February 2013 and the winner(s) - chosen by me - will be announced shortly afterwards.

Jay29ers.

Update - 17/2/13:

The competition is now closed but please, please continue to upload these types of designs to the main gallery.

These competitions are always hard to judge and this one is no exception.  Firstly, plenty of honourable mentions...

To denishurley for combining two of Arsenal's ugliest kits, predating the actual return of white away shirts to the Gunners by seven years and, naturally, giving the North London club another green and navy Away, as well as Liverpool a Romania-like Third which surely would have been far more popular than their real change kits at that time.

To Silky Smooth for giving us a Napoli shirt that we felt we'd already seen in existence - we hadn't - and a Croatia entry that made us think we were checking FSC, not DF.

And to ehrenfest, who uploaded several designs, the best of which was a black version of the Manchester United Away which drifted slightly into referee kit territory.  One for Howard Webb then.

But the winner is Corinth, who came up with a fabulous design only to find adidas and Germany had got there first, and then, undeterred, gave us a bolt from the blue with a white and red version of the Corinthians "St George Cross" Centenary Third shirt.  Had it been produced, and worn in a commemorative game, it could have become one of the most sought after shirts of all time, like the similar Internazionale Centenary Away.  A great shout and a very worthy winner.

Well done to everyone who "got" this competition and contributed.  The gallery will remain an enjoyable place to visit for some time to come.
