The club was founded in 1998 and, after about six seasons, it reached the third tier, the Regional Championship 1, at the end of the 2002-2003 season. Since then, Nedjm Chabab Magra (NCM) consistently played in Algeria's 3rd division until 2018, when it achieved its first promotion to Ligue 2. The following year, the club made history by advancing to Ligue 1 for the first time.
In 2004, while still in Regional 1 (D3), NCM gained national attention by reaching the semifinals of the Algerian Cup for the first time, where they faced Algeria's most prestigious club, JS Kabylie, at the Messaoud-Zeghar Stadium in El Eulma. NCM was eliminated after a 3-0 defeat.
