Shamrock Rovers Football Club, of Tallaght, Dublin, are Ireland’s most successful club and their striking identity graced the 360th stage of the Kit of the Week (KOTW) challenge.
Playing in the SSE Airtricity League (of Ireland) Premier Division doesn’t provide the highest of profiles but Rovers have occasionally impressed in European football in recent years and have become much more familiar to football fans around the world.
This is evidenced in the beautiful range of designs, born of excitement, that were entered into our contest.
The famous Celtic-like hoops were played around with by the likes of Skyebaggie, RedCardConcepts - in a very big way - and, with a bronze medal the result, ONI, but CyKitDesigns painted the feature on in a comparatively traditional way andraffe’s gentle pushing of the envelope was rewarded with second place come the voting.
Many even broke the hoops, and this included Oakleighman, whose measured incorporation of a Nike template ended up withthe top place on the podium.
It would have been a little rich a few years ago, perhaps, but it’s apparently deemed acceptable - even desirable - in the mid-2020s.
