It was influenced by the first Fire kit, which looked like a firemans uniform, and I used puma as they made some of the best kits for the fire, originally the band was all round the shirt, but it was pretty hard to incorporate the number, and it did not look right on a fire shirt, plus issues of kit clashing

Great to see the dark blue being used in a more prominent manner. Also it's great to see a MLS team in something other than Adidas for once. Swear I develop a headache every time I see a adidas MLS kit now.
