Description: Home kit for Arsenal, in the Iconic red shirts with white sleeves. The idea for the shirt design and look came from reading one of the stories about where Herbert Chapman, who transformed Arsenal and English football, got the idea for Arsenal to run out in red shirts with white sleeves. According to the story, one of the groundsmen had a habit of wearing a sleeveless jersey over his long sleeved shirt, and seeing this, Chapman changed the Arsenal shirt to the Iconic design in March 1933. The shirt design is partly inspired by that story, as it is intended to replicate a V necked jumper worn over a shirt with a mandarin style collar, along with shadow pinstripes on the front and back, and the panels around the arms. The crest used for this shirt is the Art Deco style version that Chapman introduced and was used in the clubs marbled halls and on the east stand (a modified version was used on players shirts. The cannon from the 1930 FA cup final crest (the first time the symbol was worn on Arsenal shirts) is on the back of the shirts. Continuing the Art Deco theme, the shirt panels have been inspired by an art deco style, and the name and numbers are a complimentary art deco style duo of fonts.
