Crest 2 (USM Alger)---------------------------- In July 1935, Omar Aichoun and Mustapha Kaoui, merchants of jute bags, created USM Alger (USMA), an exclusively Muslim sports association. Influenced by the growing nationalist movement and supported by figures like Sheikh Tayeb El Okbi, they aimed to unite Algerian youth through sports. The club faced challenges like securing a stadium and navigating colonial regulations. USMA, along with other Muslim sports clubs, became a symbol of nationalism and resistance against French colonialism, playing a role in fostering patriotism among Algerians.
