The centrepiece of the crest is the Ermine, symbol of Brittany, while the rope is a nod to the nautical history of Brest. The sword blades and the tattered banner both referance the team nickname of The Pirates, and the chevron formed by the base of the ermine and the red background harks back to the original outfit for SB29, a white shirt with a red V.
