ReCresting #1: Floridsdorfer AC
Image information
- Description
- Floridsdorfer Athletiksport-Club or FAC for short is a Viennese football club currently playing in Austria's second division. An early staple of Austrian football, the 1918 national champions have since long struggled in the lower leagues but eventually made their way back to professional football less then a year ago. Because of many name changes due to club mergers, FAC's crest has been changed and redesigned countless times. Its latest incarnation (pictured top left) was introduced only half a year ago. Although the simple typography crest has a long tradition among the club, the current one looks clunky, outdated and uninspired. With my redesign, I tried to establish a new element in the FAC crest: the vase of flowers is added to a more colourful, blue and white circular design to properly represent the club's home district, Vienna's 21st, Floridsdorf. As pictured top right, Floridsdorf's coat of arms features the aformentioned vase quite prominently. The key aim of this design is to properly embody the club's tradition, colours and historic location while introducing more vibrant and elaborate elements to the crest. Any feedback is very much appreciated! :-)
