I just saw the Admiral jersey you spoke of, and I agree it's very simiilar. Almost too similar, damn.

With a white collar it'-) be brilliant for England as it has a look of the 80s Admiral kit. ...but that doesn't help you with this.
The blue is possibly too light compared to recent US shirts. How about making it into the denim style blue like the 94 world cup shirt?
