I agree with silky smooth, I don't think that the league is a reason to stop this competition. Like silky already said, in the league there are only 12 kits to design in a long period, so I think most of us will be finished with them soon. Also, the next point is that the league is a closed competition, so other users, who don't participate in the league or new users don't have a weekly chance to compete with other designer (hope you all understand what I try to say). So I don't think that there is any reason to stop this great competition.

You created a great competition, which gives designers the opportunity to show their talents on a weekly basis, and, in my opinion, you should keep it running. Like Silky Smooth and Gaabowski said, the SL won't demand that much time, so I think it can easily coexist with the KDC.
