This a challenge that Skyebaggie is responsible for, in that he isn't a fan of MLS away kits. His argument being that you couldn't have stripes, or hoops and he was correct in a sense. I always thought you could, if the stripes were narrowed in some way and the back of the shirt was virtually stripe free. The white away kit would be the reverse of the navy blue home kit.

Feel free to add your opinion as to whether this would work or if it's a stupid idea.

I misquoted Skyebaggie. He was all for stripes and I thought perhaps they weren't necessary, or that they could be minimised to a degree.

@Oakleighman You're right, having a striped shirt is perfectly possible, and your idea works. I don't get why the number visability would be a problem even with full stripes in some cases, off the top of my head I can name 10 colour combos that would work and have no problems with the legibility of the numbers.

Some ideas, some my own, some based off previous combos the teams have used in the past -

Cincy - Home Navy and Orange with White number, White and Orange with Navy number for the change
Austin - Black and Green with White number, green with Black number.
Atlanta - Black and Red with Gold number, Peach and White with Black number.
Montreal - Blue and Black with Silver number, White and Silver with Blue number
Dallas - Red and White with Navy number with Silver outline, Blue and White with Red number with Silver outline
Vancouver - They have brought back the hoop for their home and used a Red number.
San Jose - Blue and Black with a White number, White and Red with a Black number
New England - Navy and Red with White number, Red and White with Green number
Colorado - White and Green with Claret number
Galaxy - Navy and Blue with Golden Yellow number
Philly - Navy and Gold with White or Light Blue number, White and Gold with Navy number

So with all that, I don't see why you couldn't have stripes or hoops for MLS teams.

Sorry, I also forgot to mention that my reason for retaining stripes was that teams could stick to the same pallette for home and away kits, as they do in American sports.

@Oakleighman Think with their colour combo and if they went back to their broad central stripe, it would work better for Philly Union than any other team.
