This is just a quick message to reiterate the uploading terms and conditions on DesignFootball.com (DF) and provide an update regarding action that has been taken over the past couple of weeks.
As you will be aware, DF provides the facility to upload concept/fantasy designs that will then be available to be viewed by visitors to the website, search engines and may be shared on social media and our sister site, Football Shirt Culture (footballshirtculture.com). This opportunity to have designs showcased does not imply any rights over images and nor does it provoke any involvement of DF in disputes between the uploader and any third party.
The uploading is also carried out at the discretion of members - the designers and uploaders of the content found on the site - and members assume responsibility for said content. In the case that a claim has been made over branding, stylings and/or trademarks within examples of this content, DF has always reserved the right to remove images.
Due to a claim from adidas, many designs on the site have become subject to that right to remove images, and several thousands of published designs have been unpublished.
Further to this, new designs that could be seen to be including adidas branding, stylings and/or trademarks have been rejected from the site, with an internal message sent to the member concerned explaining why, and this procedure will continue indefinitely.
Due to the importance of keeping designs with, again, adidas branding, stylings and/or trademarks off DF, repeated attempts to upload and/or (re)publish designs such as these may result in the restriction of the facility to upload and publish or, indeed, complete banning from the website for anyone who contravenes this policy.
We apologise for any disappointment this update causes - we are disappointed too - but we appreciate both your understanding and the talent we are honoured to continue to highlight for the many fans of football kit design who enjoy the content we host.
The Future of Design Football
On a more positive note, Design Football (DF) is still going strong as we enter our 17th year of existence.
What can you expect this year and in the years to come? We're planning a technical update for our website since the underlying technology is outdated. New versions of various parts of the site will be available by the end of this year.
The core functionality of the website will remain the same; you'll still be able to upload your designs. However, some existing features will be retired. The first phase of the update will also introduce a fresh new look.
Looking ahead, we'll be actively developing new features for the website. High on our agenda are multiple images for a single design, a new competition voting system, and improved community functionality.
