I like that you picked Japan to remake; I really dont like the one that they currently have - I think mostly because it just lacks any japanese feel to it, the shield looks french, the J F A typeface looks Old English and the vertical stripe is just a riddle. I like the use of the red circle (it is something I think they really should implement), I like how its 'free' and not bordered in by a shield (also something japanese in terms of design), I am not sure how I feel about the layout/scale of a few things, also not a big fan of the border on the pigeon japanese font at the bottom.

I preffer the original one cos how does it looks on a shirt, but I love your version XD cos the anime way you draw the jatagarasu buahahahaha It´s amazing!!! love it!!!

Perhaps they wanted with these european style popularized football in Japan(at the start of the football federation).I think my suggestion more modern and more suited to their culture.
