With the recent resurgence of football in the Philippines and a steady rise to prominence in Southeast Asia, as well as the reconstruction of the national league, I (John Valor) thought it would be a good idea to start a kit competition to honor the many milestones achieved by my country in the past few years.
The Philippines is the home country of FC Barcelona legend and all-time top scorer in all competitions including friendlies, Paulino Alcantara, with a 369 goals in 357 appearances. The Philippines has also beaten Asian heavyweights Japan 15-2 in the year, with Alcantara playing for the national team, now endearingly known locally as the 'Azkals', meaning 'street dog'.
The national team now boasts the likes of top-flight players Neil Etheridge of the EPL's Fulham and Stephan Schrock of Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.
The rules are as follows:
1. There is no limit to the number of entries (home, away, third, goalkeeper, crest) that may be entered.
2. Though the current technical sponsor is Puma, any brand may be used, excluding fantasy brands.
3. References to Philippine history may be incorporated into the kit and will be given extra consideration.
4. One winner will be selected from each type of entry (home, away, third, goalkeeper, crest)
Deadline for the competition will be on February 1st, 2013. Good luck and happy designing!
*UPDATE* The competition is now closed. Winners will be announced in the next few days. Thank you to all who entered.
*UPDATE* SInce there aren't really that much entries, I've decided to just pick the best three kits from the ones that were entered
1st: julian121, away kit (white) The abstract design of he flag is something I found interesting and very creative
2nd: Woo-Sport, home kit (blue) The barong tagalog-inspired collar makes it a very unique entry, and one that I believe deserves great merit. Well done.
3rd: manutd_kitman21, home kit (white) The puma styling is distinct and it looks like something they would make for the team in real life.
Again, thank you to all who entered!
