This is a VERY quick just-for-fun competition to design kits and a crest for a Best of the Rest team (a select XI-style dream team) to join the 32 qualifiers in Brazil next summer.  Made up of the best players who will miss out on the tournament, the kit should somehow reflect the side's cosmopolitan makeup.

As a hint, some of the most fun may be had in the choice of name and number on the back (squad list accompaniment is another option) so I look forward to seeing the obvious Bales and Ibrahimovics but also more surprising inclusions.

Home kits, goalkeeper kits, Away kits - shirts, shorts and socks - and crests are all welcome, using any manufacturer, and the closing time is the beginning of the World Cup draw on Friday 6th December 2013 - so get those entries in quickly!  I'll announce winners within a couple of days.

As is standard with DF competitions, selected entries will be featured on the DF Facebook Page and tweeted and designs already uploaded to Football Shirt Culture's Fantasy Kit Designs or the DF galleries are both eligible and welcome so please don't hesitate to include them.

UPDATE - 6/12/2013:  The competition is now CLOSED.

There were only a few entries but they were great.  It was fun seeing the lineups and the choice of player name printing (Mikael Lustig?! Spot the Celtic fan!) and the kits seemed to be well positioned too.

I'm not going to run through all the entries, but they were superb and showed that, even without the usual heritage/traditions that we can fall back on in these competitions, imaginativeness is alive and strong on DF.

But there has to be a winner, and I've chosen the design that I think captured the idea of a select XI, taking the notion and branding it as an official Fifa side, with the right mix of adidas signature styling and a bespoke approach that avoided colours normally associated with particular countries.  Congratulations to adidassler, who came up with a kit that I could easily see being worn in a tournament opener or closer next summer.
