As you'll no doubt be aware, a rumour - with some substance - is doing the rounds that FC Barcelona will wear hoops/horizontal stripes on their Home shirt in 2015-16. Therefore, I was wondering - as the basis for a just-for-fun comp - what some other teams would look like if their stripes - vertical or horizontal - were rotated 90 degrees next season.
I'm thinking Newcastle United, Sunderland, Celtic, Atletico Madrid, QPR and, perhaps using a little artistic licence, Boca Juniors and Ajax? And, of course, any others you can think of. There are plenty to choose from.
The key will be how this challenge is taken on, rather than a simple conversion of existing shirts. And it may well be that the full kit being shown will aid this process.
Competition rules:
1) You can enter as many times as you like, with as many teams as you like.
2) Existing sponsors and manufacturers - or those scheduled for 2015-16 - to be used.
3) Shirts or full kits, to suit.
4) Home, Away, Third, Goalkeeper or whatever shirts/kits you think will present the concept in the best way.
As is standard with DF competitions, selected entries will be featured on the DF Facebook page and tweeted and designs already uploaded to Football Shirt Culture's Fantasy Kit Designs or the DF galleries are both eligible and welcome, so please don't hesitate to include them.
The competition will close at 23:59 on Friday 19th December 2014 and the winner(s) - chosen by me - will be announced shortly afterwards.
Happy designing!

Update - 4/3/15: Way overdue, here are the results.
Some fantastic ideas and plenty of teams used that I never thought of. In the end, I had to go with the first kit uploaded: the Ajax effort from giannakakis. Not only does the design embrace the concept wonderfully, but it also adds a twist in the central band being broken and returning to the adidas Trefoil logo (now synonymous with the Originals brand). Wonderful stuff.
There do need to be some honourable mentions too. Firstly, wlg went down the Ajax route too, and a different approach provides another fantastic design. 13Reijnsy gave us a cracking Bristol Rovers shirt, deciding to rotate the quarters just 45 degrees. buttplug decided that Umbro will kit out Celtic next season - it might happen - and returned the Bhoys to their stripes of yore, even adding watermarked tartan for good measure. Finally, a design that ran giannakakis very close - a Blackburn kit also from buttplug that turned the halves horizontal and cleverly integrated the sponsor in the oddly befitting new design. Brilliant.
Well done to all that got involved.
