no, it represents a native american, the club got it's name by Kaizer Mataung who player for Atlanta Chiefs, he combined his name and the clubs and modeled the logo by Atlantas logo... wikipedia

i checked atlanta chiefs online and their shirt looks very characteristic of that period in the nasl
they had created a peculiar style for nasl teams which was advanced and very different from european teams of the same era

also the logos were groundbreaking in the nasl
