World Cup Knockout Kit Design Competition

- Hi All, Taking expressions of interest in a knockout style world cup kit comp similar to the comps we have had on here before. The structure of the competition would be as follows: Round 1: Begins on completion of the Group Stage of the World Cup. 16 designers in head to head match ups choosing from the teams eliminated in the Group Stage. Round 2: Winners of the first round match ups move onto the Quarter Finals and Designers choose from Teams eliminated during the Round of 16 of the World Cup. Semi Finals: Winners from the Quarter Final match ups face off choosing from teams eliminated from the Quarter Finals of the World Cup. 3rd vs 4th: The 2 losers of the semi finals face off with their designs for the 2 teams in the 3rd vs 4th Play Off of the World Cup. Final: The 2 finalists design kits for the 2 finalists of the World Cup to determine the Winner. The comp is designed so that all countries in the world cup are represented with a kit in the competition. Rules will be same as previous DF Competitions where there is a deadline for each round for designs to be submitted and then a voting period will commence. If you’re interested in entering the comp, post your name in the comments. Please note if there are more than 16 who nominate, we will have an extra qualifying round where entrants choose a team that has not qualified for the World Cup

· 10 years ago@RedStarLiverpool Are you referring to the one light one dark rule?
If so, it's not new and doesn't state that they have to play in all one colour kits as some people have misinterpreted.

Country Nominations for the first round will open at 1200 GMT (midday) on Thursday 26th June. Midday GMT will always be the time that nominations begin as it is the fairest time given designers are from all over the world (apologies to those who live in the middle of the Pacific Ocean).
I will post the full rules later but in short, the alleged FIFA regulations won't apply, you as a designer are free to design the kits however you like. - This commment is unpublished.

- This commment is unpublished. · 10 years ago@RedStarLiverpool It isn't overly clear, i agree. Though it is exactly the same rule that was in place for the 2010 world cup too.
The problem is with Adidas producing one colour kits the media (UK especially) highlighted, wrongly, the 'new' rule and people have misinterpreted it.

The problem comes when two teams end up wearing away kits even though there would be no colour clash, like when Spain played the Netherlands. And with the one colour thing it's basically adidas' fault for producing frankly horrible Argentina and Germany kits.
