How a home kit vote should work (Derby County)

Kit votes can be a good idea, but all too often, they are let down by the kits on offer. In the past months, for quite a few kit votes, there has been really no choice in kit votes, giving supporters the illusion that they can choose the kit, when often it comes down to choosing between different pieces of cheap team wear for the new kit, or choosing not the design or the colours, but between designs that are basically the same. In my opinion, here is how a real choice of kits should work out, and this will give the supporters a real say in the shirt that the team they love will run out it in the next season or two.
Now this can never be an exact science, and you cannot please everybody all of the time. But you can make most of the supporters happy, by giving them a plain choice in the kits that is a real choice, not just between pieces of cheap and nasty team wear that looks as though it belongs on the back of a pub team, or between three or four kits that look the same and to all intents and purposes are the same. So here is how it should be done.
For this, I have chosen Derby County Football Club. I here you say “but they always play in black and white! How much choice can they have?” Ah, but not necessarily so. For Nigel Clough has taken the hot seat, and it would take a brave man to bet against them being back in the top flight of English football any time soon in my opinion. It also gives the opportunity for the repeat of history.
Right, on to the kit vote for the seasons 2010-12. I think that adidas will give the rams a bog standard template that season, worn by lesser teams on the roster at adidas, but it would be nice if they gave the rams a template that was designed with the bigger teams in mind, out of 7 or 8 designed for that season or the one after next.
Choices A and B are straightforward enough, with the white shirt and the black colour scheme that has been associated with the rams. The templates are quite different, A is modern, and has some design flair, B has more of an adidas original vibe, and both are different enough to justify their inclusion in a kit vote. Both will also be used by top teams, but will have enough differences in the colours (differing panel colours, collar, cuffs, stripes added, removal of the three stripes) so it wont be immediately obvious that it’s the same template.
Choice C is the wild card, if you will. This kit is inspired by the reign of Brian Clough. Old big head decided to change the white shirt, black shorts to white shirt, navy shorts in imitation of the national side. This kit, In all white, with the Trefoil and the Rams head crest on the shorts in sliver, was inspired by the current England kit and will be bespoke for the Rams. Perhaps Nigel could do the same trick, nad perhaps some of the magic will rub off on the Rams.
Choice D is the same kit as choice B, but with navy blue instead of black
All of the kits are in my gallery at designfootball.
Vote for the favourite, and give reasons why.
