I like this idea.
I think the best option would be dividing the entrants in groups. For example, if we have 24 participants, we should divide them in 4 groups of 6. The champion of each group would go to a final group consisting of four teams (each group champion). This would make the league less lenghty. Also, like buttplug said, voting could be a problem in a regular league. However, in this group system, we could have not only non-participating members voting, but the entrants from other groups as well.
